Tell Us….
“If you would have asked us one year ago, ‘What’s
a hospice?’ I would have said, ‘I don’t
know.’ When you asked four months ago, we said, ‘We
don’t need them.’ If you ask us now, we say ‘We
never would have made it without them.’ They made us
all smile, held us when we cried, hugged us ‘just because,’ talked
with us, not at us, and really loved our little princess.” The DiSandro Family about their 14-year-old daughter
“My wife Barbara spent only three days (in the Hospice Home), but they
are three days I will be forever grateful to have had with her. Your staff was
able to manage the pain better than the hospital and she was able to rest peacefully…To
watch a loved one suffer is something no one should ever have to go through and
thanks to your staff I didn’t have to. They managed to make an extremely
hard time much easier. I only wish that everyone who is unfortunate enough to
have a loved one fall ill, is fortunate enough to place them in your facility.”

Rick Donley about his wife Barbara
“Dad was living in the nursing home and I thought
I would have to take him home to have Hospice. I was surprised
and relieved to be told that Hospice could take care of him
in the nursing home.
The care they provide is phenomenal. Ever since he was admitted
into Hospice, he’s been
a new man. Before he was lethargic, slept all the time, didn’t
eat or talk much; now he is more alert, holds conversations,
plays Yatzee and he can enjoy his favorite foods again… The
positive changes we have seen in Dad I think are from the
extra attention from the Hospice staff, the comfort care
room, and just the peace of mind Hospice brings…we
saw what hospice could do when they took care of mom at home.”
Nancy Kraus and Fred Lotarski about their father Joseph Lotarski,
a resident of Morris Health Care & Rehab
“Everyone told us that Joliet Area Community Hospice
was the place to go. I had heard nothing but great things
about them, but they still exceeded my all my expectations.
Our nurse, Linda has become a member of the family to us.
Initially we were resistant to Hospice, but our doctor sat
down with us and said we should look at hospice…Without
it, the last 5 weeks would not have been easy. (Phyllis)
had to drive to Homer Glen to get the medications and lived
in constant fear of running out…Once we started Hospice,
our nurse made sure he has his medications and adjusts them
as he needs it. It provides me with peace of mind that they
are taking care of all those worries.”
