Veterans Memorial Garden at JACH
Joliet Area Community Hospice is embarking on a campaign to raise funds to enlarge and enhance its Flag Galleria outdoor space to provide Veterans and Veteran families with a Veterans Memorial Garden. The new Veterans Memorial Garden will honor veterans of all eras who served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Infrastructure will be upgraded to prepare the grounds surrounding the existing flag area on the south side of the Hospice Home building to support the installation of a large paved sitting area and walkways that will connect existing sidewalks and open the area to foot traffic. Benches, bushes, and landscaping all focused on beautiful monuments to honor all branches of military service will be the focal point. The Veterans Memorial Garden will be easily accessible, open and available to the community, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere to provide a special place for reflection, celebration and recognition of service by those who have made the greatest sacrifice for our country. Naming opportunities are available and donations of all sizes in support of the project will be appreciated.
Hospice is about shifting mindset. With a focus on quality of life, JACH made it clear that we were making the best choices for my Dad. From admission to Dad’s death, the entire JACH staff was fantastic. My family has a warm feeling of gratitude for the Pride, Honor, and Dignity Veteran’s pinning ceremony. We knew Dad was a Veteran, but discovered so much through this program. It was amazing that Hospice recognized Dad for his services to our country EXACTLY 66 years to the day of a battle he fought and won in France,” stated Sharon Sullivan, daughter of Anthony Kayfish.
