Senior Direct of Development Named

Joliet Area Community Hospice (JACH) has named Eileen Hooks Gutierrez as the new Sr. Director of Development and Communications. Gutierrez succeeds Jackie Bersano who retired at the end of 2019.

Gutierrez comes from the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet, IL after 16 years as their Director of Development and Project Liaison.  In that role, she was instrumental in facilitating a seven-year strategic plan for the cathedral, marketed and administered the Centennial Capital Campaign which raised more than $1.8 million, and overseeing capital improvements at the parish.  She was named St. Raymond Nonnatus Woman of the Year in 2015.

Gutierrez graduated from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a B.S. in News-Editorial Journalism. She has served on the Cathedral Area Preservation Association Board and is a member of the Board of Directors at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.

As JACH Sr. Director of Development and Communications, Gutierrez will be responsible for overseeing all fundraising, friendraising and marketing at JACH with a staff of four.

“We welcome Eileen to the team as we enter a new decade and look toward the future with the addition at the Hospice Home, our increased census and our ability to provide quality end of life care to the community. Eileen has been a life-long resident of Joliet and her experience in marketing and development will be key as we continue to grow.” said Mary K Sheehan, CEO JACH.

“I am thrilled to have joined the team of another great Joliet institution with a tremendous mission.  I am eager to help advance JACH’s good works throughout the community,” said Gutierrez.

Joliet Area Community Hospice has provided compassionate, professional hospice and palliative care to more than 34,000 terminally ill patients and their families since 1982. JACH cares for more than 350 hospice patients per day wherever they call home – at their personal residence, nursing home, assisted living facility or the hospice inpatient unit. JACH is a proud United Way agency.
